The world needs more than ever a neutral Switzerland
Petition to the Government and Swiss political authorities

The US and EU Sanctions against Russia initiate a cycle of confrontation and war. The extension of the conflict would be fatal to Peace in Europe. Peace has no alternative and Switzerland should not join any measures which might aggravate tensions.
A new war is knocking at our doors. The Ukrainian conflict is obviously in a process of internationalization because of the massive involvement of foreign powers. In its current development, it reproduces largely the automatic gear patterns we have already seen in action during First World War.
Under the leadership of the United States, a system of sanctions aiming Russia is being implemented by a fraction of the world's governments. These measures in the EU Countries but also in Switzerland are accompanied by a conditioning of the public opinions based on an unilateral treatment of information. They also herald explicitly warlike measures, such as sending foreign military advisers into Ukraine, the arming of one of the parties to the conflict, or a concentration of military capabilities of NATO to Russia's borders.
This scenario has already materialized in the recent past in other theaters of crisis, with arguably counterproductive and tragic outcomes for the populations. None of the Countries "pacified" by the Western coalition came out to his advantage and many of them are now living in fire and blood. These interventions benefit only to arms dealers and fanatics, especially in the Middle East.
The current situation presents an additional risk of nuclear confrontation. As in August 1914, the logic of confrontation prevails and Europeans may once again fight against each other. In the best case, the wall of sanctions being installed in the middle of the Continent is made to permanently divide the people of Europe between themselves.
In this context, Peace has no alternative! Dialogue should supplant threat and bellicose posturing inspired by an external actor in Europe. Our destiny is in our own only hands.
As citizens and residents of a neutral Country, we urge Swiss politicians not to join this race into the abyss. It is time that they find again the courage to take the Constitution and the Tradition of this country seriously, and not to yield to outside pressures. We live in Europe, we depend on our environment and therefore should contribute to the extent of our ability to maintain Peace on our Continent.
Switzerland joined the United Nations with the hope of contributing to Peace in the World. It therefore can not condone illegal sanctions, both under the UN Charter and the Rules of the WTO, which, it must be remembered, is headquartered in Switzerland.
It is neither profitable nor honorable to join maneuvers based on intimidation, that lead to war and carry the seeds of the risk of the total destructions of our Countries.
